Education

As educators struggle with the increase in demand for physical security the overall investment into video surveillance, access control and intrusion detection continues to grow. Despite all the money being spent on security, it continues to produce inconsistent results for educational institutions. Security systems are reaching the 1000's in number of cameras and card access points, causing them to become increasingly difficult to manage and expensive to maintain.

Seneca College

The Challenge

As an educational facility, Seneca’s security concerns focused primarily on ensuring the safety and security of its staff and student body while protecting the integrity of its facilities and campus property. With over 100,000 students attending their campuses each year, Seneca required a video surveillance system that could provide high quality images, maximum coverage and be easily expanded. Additionally, they required a solution that could be centrally managed and monitored in order to quickly respond to threats of theft, violence and vandalism.

The Solution

Double Vision was selected to integrate a High-Definition IP Video Surveillance Network based on its innovation, experience and competitive prices. In meeting Seneca’s requirements, Double Vision installed the Video Surveillance Network which spanned across 4 of its main campuses. The system includes high-definition megapixel cameras capturing large spaces, parking lots and license plates. High-resolution cameras are being used in smaller spaces, vestibules and low traffic areas. The Video Surveillance Network is built on an open architecture video software platform with server redundancy and fail-over, and network attached storage devices for extended video storage.
