The Challenge

As an educational facility, Seneca’s security concerns focused primarily on ensuring the safety and security of its staff and student body while protecting the integrity of its facilities and campus property. With over 100,000 students attending their campuses each year, Seneca required a video surveillance system that could provide high quality images, maximum coverage and be easily expanded. In meeting Seneca’s requirements, Double Vision installed the Video Surveillance Network which spanned across 4 of its main campuses. The system includes high-definition megapixel cameras capturing large spaces, parking lots and license plates. High-resolution cameras are being used in smaller spaces, vestibules and low traffic areas. The Video Surveillance Network is built on an open architecture video software platform with server redundancy and fail-over, and network attached storage devices for extended video storage.

The Challenge

In most urban areas, local plazas often experience common issues such as loitering, illegal dumping, vandalism and theft. Addressing these issues, on a case by case basis, results in increased expenses and diverted resources. When these issues begin to threaten tenant business, the property is at risk of losing revenue. In order to ensure the safety and security of both its tenants, its patrons and the property itself, Hassey Management sought out preventative measures to deter criminal activity, reduce costs and better protect its investment.

The Solution

Having previously invested in analog video for one property, Hassey was looking to find a solution that could provide them better coverage and better quality. Double Vision was selected amongst a group of integrators to implement an IP Megapixel Video Network across several Hassey properties that were experiencing the most problems. The solution consisted of high-definition cameras with a network video recorder at each plaza, capturing parking entrances and exits, garbage bins and highly loitered areas. The solution provided Hassey with the most coverage at the lowest cost.

The Challenge

Like most property management firms, Osgoode encountered several common challenges which affected their day to day operational efficiency and raised several safety concerns. These challenges included the ability to adequately monitor traffic in and out of their buildings and the safety and security of their tenants. Addressing and preventing incidents of theft, vandalism and violence required a significant investment of time and resources in order to respond to each event. Osgoode was looking for a solution which enabled them to manage multiple locations remotely and provide them with high quality footage of events taking place at their properties.

The Solution

In responding to these common challenges, Double Vision integrated a video surveillance network with over 100 cameras strategically placed throughout multiple high-rise properties, providing high quality footage to monitor and record activity. State Transportation provides LTL
State Transportation provides LTL, truckload, transporation and warehousing services to businesses across Canada and the United State.

Website: www.statests.com

The Challenge

State Transportation was seeking a proactive approach to protect their operation against theft, liability and vandalism. The nature of their business involves warehousing and transporting goods with heavy equipment at all hours of the day. In order to ensure high standards of safety and security, State Transportation sought an effective surveillance solution to monitor all activities, as well as an integrated access control system to provide an audit trail of traffic on their premises. An emphasis was made on solutions that could grow with the organization and adapt to new advances in technology over time, thus maintaining their security needs for many years to come. Additionally they were looking for a solution that was user friendly and could be efficiently managed without the need for complicated software updates and data backups. Another priority was to find cameras that would provide clear and detailed footage that would yield critical details of incidents that take place on their property.

The Solution

Double Vision installed an IP high definition video surveillance solution that was integrated with an online IP access control system. The high definition cameras provide detailed footage of all activity on State Transportation’s property while the IP camera and access networks provide ease of use, efficient maintenance and remote access from anywhere with an internet connection. The integration of both solutions enable management to access both the video and access applications remotely and combine features from both systems into one application. For instance, if access was denied after-hours or an alert was generated, an operations manager could log into the system from home, find the door in question and reference the video footage to confirm the visitor or employee’s identity prior to granting them access to the facility remotely. Additionally, the provided solutions enabled State Transportation to maintain their C-TPAT compliancy.

Humbold Properties
Humbold Properties is a leading property management and development firm with over 40 years of industry experience and a portfolio which includes over 1 million square feet of commercial, retail and industrial property throughout the Greater Toronto Area.

Website: www.humboldproperties.com

The Challenge

Like most property management firms, Humbold Properties came across several challenges that jeopardized the safety and security of its tenants, its properties and its investments. These challenges ranged from theft and vandalism to loitering and illegal dumping. Addressing each of these events resulted in increased expenses associated with having to replace and repair stolen and damaged property, hire private security, along with the added cost of resources wasted in diverting staff away from their daily responsibilities to manage these issues. Humbold was looking to increase safety and security while reducing the costs involved in improving property security and deterring criminal activity.

The Solution

Double Vision was selected amongst a group of several integrators to assist in resolving these challenges. Double Vision integrated a wide area IP video surveillance network that spanned across several properties, including Humbold’s corporate headquarters. Double Vision implemented a Hybrid IP system, which enabled Humbold to save money by utilizing existing analog cameras while taking advantage of new IP High Definition Megapixel cameras, resulting in greater coverage and higher quality images. Titanium Logistics Inc.
Titanium Logistics Inc. is a full service, C-TPAT compliant, transportation and warehousing company, with services throughout Canada and the USA.

Website: www.titaniumlogistics.com

The Challenge

Considering the high value of goods being transported within containers combined with the value of the vehicles alone, theft is always a concern in the transportation industry. Transported goods are often stored within their containers and processed offsite at company yards and warehouses, where a steady flow of drivers come and go 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The value of goods along with the volume of traffic poses a great challenge to a logistic operation. Operators must ensure that only authorized personnel have consistent access to these facilities in order to avoid theft and costly delays to their shipping schedules. Extended hours can leave personnel isolated and alone and measures must therefore be taken in order to ensure their safety and protect the business against liability. Additionally, transportation companies with US destinations must meet C-TPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership against Terrorism) standards in order to ensure their cargo does not pose any threat to national security. Titanium was looking to find a solution that would help them become C-TPAT compliant and enable them to effectively manage traffic and activity throughout their facilities.

The Solution

Double Vision installed a High-Definition IP Video Surveillance Network along with an Online Access Control System at Titanium’s corporate headquarters, warehouse and yard. Double Vision was selected as the integrator of choice based on experience and for proposing a solution that provided greater coverage with 50% less equipment than other solutions. The HD video surveillance network provides high quality video footage of facility activity, while the access control solution documents traffic in and out of facility quarters. The ability to access both systems remotely proved to be a valuable operational tool as supervisors could access both systems at all hours from anywhere in the world. The efficient design of both systems proved to be an added convenience when Titanium’s headquarters was relocated to a new facility. As the new facility opened, Titanium was able to easily add new devices (such as card readers and cameras) to the security network enabling them to quickly secure their premises, while maintaining their C-TPAT compliancy.
